Andrew L. Pieper received his B.S. in Political Science from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and completed his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut.  He teaches American politics and research methods, particularly the Presidency and Congress, but also campaigns and elections and political parties.  He has also taught political theory, particularly democratic theory and critiques of liberalism.  His research interests are religion and politics, social movements, American political parties, and environmental politics.  His current work focuses on the rhetoric and development of the culture wars and their impact on American elections, and the intersection of religion and environmentalism.  He has published his work in journals such as the New England Journal of Public Policy and American Politics Research.
